AppScout is transparent about how the catalog is compiled.
What is automated
- Data collection: app metadata is gathered from public catalog data and the official App Store RSS feeds.
- Trending (App Pulse): aggregated daily from Apple’s official App Store charts across multiple markets.
- Logo and official-link matching uses string-similarity scoring against the iTunes Search API and Google Play search results, with confidence thresholds to reject mismatches.
What is not AI
Descriptions are sourced from public catalog data, not generated by a large language model. Top Charts are deterministic rankings by rating and download count, not algorithmic recommendations.
Human oversight
Editorial decisions (collections, featured picks) are reviewed by a human editor. Errors should be reported to [email protected].
